Child Safety at Prism

Your safety is our top priority. Here's how we protect you.

For Kids

Prism is your safe space to learn coding. We built this platform just for young learners like you, and we take your safety seriously.

  • The AI is here to help you learn — it's been set up to only talk about coding, science, math, and creative projects. It won't discuss anything inappropriate.
  • Your code is yours — nobody can see your work unless you choose to share it.
  • If something feels wrong, tell an adult — if you ever see anything on Prism that makes you uncomfortable, close the page and tell a parent or teacher right away.
  • Never share personal info — don't put your real address, phone number, or school name in any prompts or code.

For Parents & Guardians

We understand the trust you place in us when your child uses Prism. Here's what we do to keep them safe:

AI Safety Measures

  • Content moderation — All AI interactions are filtered for age-inappropriate content, both going in (what your child types) and coming out (what the AI responds).
  • Server-controlled AI instructions — The system prompts that guide AI behavior are locked on our servers. They cannot be overridden or modified by users.
  • Topic restrictions — The AI is instructed to only discuss coding, technology, science, math, and educational creative projects. It will redirect inappropriate queries.
  • Rate limiting — Each user has a limited number of AI interactions per hour to prevent misuse and encourage thoughtful use.

Code Execution Safety

  • Browser-based sandbox — All Python code runs in an isolated browser sandbox (Pyodide). It cannot access your child's files, camera, microphone, or any other device features.
  • No network access — Code executed on the platform cannot make internet requests or communicate with external servers.
  • Execution time limits — Code that takes too long (e.g., infinite loops) is automatically stopped after 5 seconds.
  • Shared code review — When your child opens code shared by someone else, they see a safety warning and must confirm before running it.

Data & Privacy

  • Minimal data collection — We collect only what's needed to track learning progress (lesson completions, stars earned). See our Privacy Policy for full details.
  • No social media integration — We do not link to or encourage use of social media platforms.
  • No advertising — Prism does not show ads or use your child's data for advertising purposes.
  • Authentication required — All interactive features require sign-in, preventing anonymous misuse.

Reporting Concerns

If you or your child encounters anything concerning on Prism, please contact us immediately:

  • Email: create@poprism.com
  • Report inappropriate content in the gallery using the report button on any project card.
  • We review all reports within 24 hours and take immediate action to remove harmful content.

Our Commitment

  • We continuously audit our platform for safety vulnerabilities.
  • We follow industry best practices for child online safety, including principles aligned with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
  • We never sell or share your child's personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • Our AI features are designed with education in mind — they exist to help your child learn, not to entertain or engage outside of the learning context.
  • We update our safety measures regularly as AI technology and best practices evolve.
